Kick starting our tour working with talented dancers from across Cornwall and Plymouth
This week saw the launch of our tour with a packed audience coming to see us at the Helford Theatre at Truro College. We couldn’t have asked for a better start to the show being out on the road, as it was on home turf in a great theatre with some fantastic comments about the show from friends, colleagues and some brand new audience members which have been a pleasure to meet.
We’ve met a lot of new people over the last week. Dancers from the company have been busy running a workshop for prospective GCSE students at Callington Community College, a Masterclass at The House in Plymouth organised with The Barbican Theatre, and a morning class for the very brilliant Hall for Cornwall Youth Dance Company at St Austell College. It’s been a busy time! But we have thoroughly enjoyed sharing the ideas and creative tasks we used to create some of the pieces for our triple bill with others. Seeing each individual take on board the tasks and bring to life their own movement with attention to detail and partnering skills gave us a glimpse into the future of the young people who are passionate about training in dance and the Masterclass in Plymouth showed us what fantastic dancers we have as our neighbours.
A huge thank you to Sam Day at Callinton Community College, Suzie West from Spindrift Dance Company, Helen Tiplady from HfC Youth Dance Company and Jules Laville from The Barbican Theatre, Plymouth where we’ll be NEXT FRIDAY 20th March for our next Awakening performance…get your tickets here!
