Interview with the Company

What’s your motto?

I have a few mottos or quotes that inspire me but one that I think about a lot is ‘When it rains look for rainbows, when it’s dark look for stars’. I find this quote very fitting as I always try to look for the positives in any situation. Things may get tough sometimes, especially as a graduate starting out in the big world of dance, but there’s always moments of inspiration or pure happiness when I remember how lucky I am to be living by the sea doing what I love!

What skill would you love to have other than dancing?

Other than dancing I would love to be able to sing. I already think my voice is OK but others may disagree! I’d love to be able to stand on a stage and sing my heart out to thousands – but I think I’ll save that for my ears only!

Dance bag must have?

I always have a banana in my dance bag for that quick energy snack. I also carry Physio tape everywhere with me after injuring my ankle last year. Another thing I do all of the time is wear many layers when I dance. During my training in Valencia it was so hot in class that I noticed a huge improvement in my flexibly and also in how little I would ache the next day after a tough class. So now I try to replicate the heat by dancing in layers!

Favourite exercise outside dance?

Outside of dance I love to practise yoga and and go running. I have also just brought a wetsuit in the hope of getting out into the sea as much as I can this year!

Advice for budding dancers?

If I had any advice for budding dancers it would be to always follow your passion of dance whilst pursuing any other interests or academic skills you may have too! I am so glad I studied A-levels because, although I took dance as one of my choices, I also took psychology and Spanish. With those additional skills I always have options if ever I decided dance wasn’t for me anymore or if, like when I got injured, I had to take time out of dance! Ultimately you will find a way to live life successfully and happy, as long as you pursue doing what you love.

Favourite season?

Without a doubt my favourite season is summer. I love the sun and light nights and the chance to go camping whenever I get time. I am never happier than when the sun’s shining and I’m out exploring the cornish countryside and fresh air!

If you could have any superpower what would it be?

If I could have any super power it would be to fly. I love the idea of being able to escape up to the skies and fly around. The views wold be amazing and you could get everywhere so much quicker!

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?

If I could go anywhere in the world it would be to Australia and New Zealand. I would love to visit the Great Barrier reef and see the amazing scenery that New Zealand is known for. I would love to travel more if I had the time and money and it is something I hope to be able to do more of in the future. I love experiencing different cultures and ways of life and meeting new people!
