Emily Dobson | Co-Director
Choreographer & Dancer
Previous performance work includes extensive national touring with Cscape, Assault Events, and Attik Dance, including children’s dance theatre, performed at venues across UK, Northern Ireland including Kneehigh’s Asylum, Cornwall and The Egg, Bath. She has also toured nationally and internationally with Kneehigh’s Don John (2009) in association with the RSC, to the U.S.A.
Outdoor site based productions as a dancer includes Road to the Beach with Motionhouse, Landings and Venus Flower with Cscape. An experienced educationalist and technique teacher, Emily regularly lectures at Falmouth University as a part-time Lecturer in Dance & Performance. Her independent choreographic work includes solo collaborations, ‘Don’t Trust the Ground’ (2013) for undergraduates at Falmouth University (Uglybird Dance), community and youth based projects for Cscape, Freefall, Cornwall Youth Dance Company, Plymouth Youth Dance Company, Assault Events (N.I) and Primary projects across Cornwall for Dance Republic 2.
Independent collaborations include film with Brett Harvey (o-region), music with Patrycja Kujawska (Vincent Dance) and photography with Kevin Clifford.
Grace Sellwood | Co-Director
Originally from Cornwall, Grace went to London to train in Contemporary Dance. She graduated from Roehampton University with a 1st Class degree working with artists Helen Parlor (Motionhouse), Dog Kennel Hill Project and Carol Brown.
Her performance work has included Shobana Jeyasingh, Ben Wright, Liz Aggiss, Charles Linehan and Lalia Diallo (as part of mapdance tour) as well as Wired Aerial Theatre (To Me To You), Cscape Dance (The Venus Flower/ Glendurgan Gold), Golden Tree Productions (Man Engine), Attik Dance (Market Bizarre), Angela Praed (Bed of Leaves), and Yskynna Aerial Arts (Hyreth, Glastonbury, Boomtown). Presently, Grace teaches in and around Cornwall as a freelancer and with Freefall Dance, producing events, teaching workshops, and creating professional performance work. She is an Associate Lecturer in Dance at Falmouth University, and is qualified as a Pilates Teacher with Pilates Foundation UK teaching with Cscape Pilates.
Charlotte was born and raised in Cornwall, and graduated from Falmouth University 2015 with a first class degree in Dance Performance.
She has had experience with Aakash Odedra, Rambert, Tolo Ko Tolo, Butoh, Katie Duck, Nobulus, Company Chameleon, Theo Clinkard, JV2, Hofesh Schecter, Motionhouse and spent three weeks training in Counter technique and Gaga at the OpenFlr Dance intensive in Florence.
Working with Freefall Dance company has given Charlotte the opportunity to expand her teaching and performing experience and understand how to work within a company, creatively and practically. She has recently started working with Yskynna aerial dance company and had the opportunity to perform with them at Boomtown Fair festival and assist on their newest production of ‘Hyreth’. She recently managed Freefall’s participation in Lila Dance’s community performance project ‘The Deluge’.
Robert left Cornwall for London to further develop his studies in Contemporary Dance at The Place (London Contemporary Dance School). Here he gained both his BA (hons) Degree in Contemporary Dance and his Postgraduate Diploma in performance with the touring company Edge07.
Robert has toured nationally and internationally, performing with such dance companies as Jose Vidal Company, Ffin Dance and Ijad Dance Company. He has also performed with Cscape Dance Company, Angela Praed and Rogue Theatre. Roberts has extensive teaching experience in established institutes, schools and academies across London and the South West for a variety of ages and abilities.
Sioda has been working as a dance artist for 12 years, creating work, teaching and performing for prestigious Companies such as Motionhouse Dance Theatre, Ace Dance and Music, Parlor Dance, Mobius Dance Theatre, Cscape and more, as well as choreographing her own work with focus on Outdoor performance/Street Theatre.
Sioda has taught all over the UK and abroad with groups of all ages and abilities. She is also a qualified Yoga instructor and Thai massage Therapist and teaches her own Yoga practice; Body Rhythms, combining dance and Yoga techniques to help people release tension and prevent injury.
Sophie Colthurst | Dancer
Sophie Colthurst is a freelance dance artist based in the southwest. She trained at Laban Conservatoire in Dance Theatre and was influenced by learning work by Cunningham and Trisha Brown, and where she also was part of the creation of a new devised work by Efrosini Protopapa (Lapsis Corpi).
Sophie has also worked with Mestre Ponciano, Jules Laville, Impermenace Dance Theatre and Cscape Dance. She is an Associate Lecturer in Dance for Plymouth University and is lead education practitioner for Attik Dance.
I graduated with a 2:1 in Dance from Falmouth University, in June 2014. Whilst at Falmouth I went on an Erasmus exchange to Valencia Conservatorio Superior de Danza and spent 6 months studying Contemporary, Ballet and Flamenco.
Since graduating, I have worked with Hall for Cornwall Youth Dance, and have taught in a variety of schools. This summer I will be performing with Cscape at Somersault Festival. I also attend in Freefall’s open class, and I am a member of Spindrift Dance Company. Since working for Freefall I have gained many valuable skills to take forward as a Dance Artist. Grace and Emily are not only talented dance artists but they are also a pleasure to work for and I am grateful for their ongoing support!
Shanice is a Graduate from Falmouth University with a BA Hons Dance and Choreography degree. Originally from Cornwall, Shanice began dancing at the age of 14 with TR14’ers a youth based dance association in Camborne, and continued her studies into A-level and University. Shanice has gained experience with choreographers and companies such as Gwyn Emberton, Lee Brummer, Earthfall dance, Cheap Date, Theo Clinkard, JV2, Spindrift Dance Company, James Wilton and Hofesh Schecter. She has also been an ambassador for Kneehigh Theatre and People Dancing.
